I didn’t grow up in a barbecue dynasty or inherit a secret family recipe. My roots are in the church, academia, and the open road. With a business degree in one hand and a trucker’s license in the other, I’ve driven across nearly every state in the U.S., soaking in flavors, cultures, and conversations. Later, I earned a Master of Divinity, started a family, and somewhere along the way, I discovered a deep love for the art of barbecue, i.e. smoking meat.

What started as curiosity—reading cookbooks and experimenting with grills—turned into a passion. After countless hours of trial, smoke, and fire, Very Tasty Smokehouse Barbecue was born. It’s more than a business—it’s a reflection of life’s journey, seasoned with purpose and served with soul.
